Discrimination is a complex phenomenon which in practical terms leads to exclusion and lack of social cohesion. It normally occurs in relation to inequities in standards of living and wellbeing for the individual in a range of settings (employment, health, education, leisure, etc,) and also through subjective manifestations involving rejection, stereotypes and stigmas which are not necessarily linked to the material life conditions of the individual.
