Workshop on Workplace Culture & Change Management

Our focus is on exploring the question of organizational or workplace culture in the context of developing a culture that is “responsive to organizational change and renewal”. This is necessary as all organizations are undergoing exponential organizational transformation. To transform an organization the culture and values of the organization need to be understood and the desirable culture and values need to be identified.

This workshop is not about identifying the different cultures in organizations, about diversity or cross-cultural awareness, about developing strategies for including cultural diversity into your system. Rather it is about providing some basic tools for you as a leader, manager, supervisor or staff member to understand and become more aware of culture, to identify with your team the desired culture or subculture and values that you wish to work in, and for you as change agents to implement cultural change.

We will apply various proven concepts and frameworks of change management including:

  • Who moved my cheese by Spencer Johnson
  • Unfreeze, Change, Refreeze by Kurt Lewin
  • The 8-Step model in Leading Change by  John F. Kotter

Workshop Objectives

At the end of this session participants will be:

  • Aware of their generic responsibilities and accountabilities for managing people (and understanding culture) as leaders and managers at their workplaces.
  • Aware of how to identify their current and desired workplace culture and organizational cultural values.
  • Able to describe the nature and concept of the change process and its components.
  • Able to explain the importance of anticipating and managing change.
  • Able to describe the necessary actions in preparing people/organizations for change.
  • Able to identify strategy in facilitating change.
  • Able to identify barriers to change and recognize solutions.
  • Able to describe steps for creating communication and basic risk management plan in change management.
  • Able to explain the importance of celebrating successes to improve people’s confidence towards change.
  • Able to go through the process of solidifying change and building a culture that embraces change.

 Target Group

The training is for leaders, managers and information professionals in both the public and private sectors. It will be relevant to anyone who is trying to implement change in their organization – and feeling the pain.
