Value Based Leadership & Performance Management Summit II

The most critical component of corporate excellence and success is excellent leadership. Unfortunately without sound institutions of governance, that defines the rules of the game and facilitates the emergence, development and maintenance of effective and accountable leadership, no leadership will be sustainable.

Value‐based  leadership  is  a  leadership  style  where  the  behavior  of  employees  and  the organization is based on the stated values. Values may be different for every organization but tend to revolve around the company’s relationship with its customers, its workforce, and with society and the planet. Organizations use values‐based leadership as a means of inspiring the workforce and creating more efficient, effective, and productive organizations.

Our Value Based Leadership program uses an experiential approach to provide first-hand leadership experience and help senior leaders learn to create the environment for effective and comprehensive problem solving by conducting a series of rapid PDCA cycles. Going through two rounds of an organizational simulation, participants get to better understand their individual and collective leadership styles and learn to apply lean thinking patterns to move toward a more effective leadership model required to support a lean transformation.

We shall present country case studies across Africa and across the world to help delegates understand to what extent, if at all, leadership and performance management interventions have improved the quality of services delivered to citizens.

Expected Results

At the end of the summit, participants should come out with the following outputs:

  • A common understanding of what performance management, performance measurement, performance contracts, performance monitoring and evaluation and improved service delivery entails.
  • A fair assessment of the true value performance management system brings to governments effort to achieve the objective of quality and efficient services to citizens.
  • Experience and information on the implementation of performance management  systems across Africa and world shared and exchanged.
  • Recommendations on appropriate means and policy options for optimizing and making performance management a key enabler of improved service delivery for citizens across Africa.
  • Key constrains and pitfalls that impede the optimization of performance management systems for improved service delivery identified and highlighted for corrective interventions.
